    Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate,” a document detailing how much your treatment will cost. Under the No Surprises Act (H.R. 133), healthcare providers must give patients who don’t have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • I’m a private pay provider, which means I don’t bill insurance directly. However, many clients use their out-of-network (OON) benefits to get reimbursed for sessions.

If you’d like extra support with this process, I’ve partnered with Mentaya, a service that streamlines getting reimbursed for your therapy sessions through out-of-network benefits.

    Mentaya is perfect if you:

    • Have out-of-network benefits

    • Feel overwhelmed by superbills and insurance

    • Have submitted superbills but failed to get any reimbursement

    • Simply want to skip the hassle of paperwork!

    Here's how it works:

    1. Sign up for Mentaya: https://mentaya.co/inviteclient/8CAX2entfXjrZZr6oIrk

    2. I’ll enter your sessions into the platform.

    3. Mentaya submits the claim and handles any insurance follow-up.

    4. You get reimbursed by insurance!

Mentaya charges a 5% fee per claim, which includes handling any paperwork required, dealing with denials, and calling insurance companies.

It's risk-free: They guarantee claims are successfully submitted, or a full refund of their fees.

  • At this time, I offer virtual therapy sessions only. Meeting online provides flexibility and accessibility, allowing you to connect from the comfort of your own space anywhere in California.

In accordance with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS), clients must be physically located within the state of California at the time of each virtual session for therapy services to be provided. If you plan to travel or temporarily reside outside of California, please notify me in advance so we can discuss options for continuity of care.

  • Together, we’ll explore whether online therapy is the best fit for your needs or if other types of sessions may be more supportive. In some cases, a higher level of care or in-person support may be more appropriate.

  • To get the most out of your virtual session, try to find a quiet, private space where you won’t be interrupted. Make sure your device is charged and your internet connection is stable. Arrive a few minutes early so we can start on time, and use headphones, if possible, to protect your privacy. Just like in-person sessions, being present and minimizing distractions helps create a safe and effective space for therapy.

  • Yes. What you share in therapy stays private. I won’t share your personal information without your written permission. Online sessions are secure and HIPAA-compliant to keep your information safe.

There are a few exceptions when I might need to share information to protect you or someone else:

    • If there’s a risk of serious harm to yourself or someone else

    • If there’s suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or vulnerable adult

    • If a court orders me to share information

We’ll discuss this together before your first session so you know what they mean.
